Challenge Loop

Proposed Challenge Loop: The proposed route was developed to call attention to the existing and Proposed Routes that transit between the Great Miami Trail and the Little Miami Trail.

The Great-Little Trail is complete from the Great Miami River to Washington Township just shy of Paragon Road. It is the only “Ladder” route between the Rivers that is half complete. In 2026, Montgomery County plans to extend it to Sheehan. At this point, there are no funded plans to complete it. Since Sheehan to Far Hills (OH-48) is probably the most dangerous stretch of street, completion of the trail to Far Hills is one of our highest priorities. Portions of this route include the Underground Railroad trail.

The Underground Railroad Loop is map-defined only, adding signs to aid the rider should be one of our priorities. It is a 51 mile Great Miami Riverway Alternative that connects Corwin to OH-741 and then the Great Little Trail at Austin Landing. The Underground Railroad Bicycle Route honors the bravery of those that fled bondage and those that provided them shelter.

In future years (2030 on), plans should be made to reduce lane widths (road diet), increase paved shoulders, paint bike lanes, and work to mark the route outside Montgomery County.
